Finished Object

I finished the final part of the Mystery CAL. It turned out to be a crochet hook case. Here are some photos of the hook case (without anything inside it.) I have filled it with some of my hooks and a pair of scissors and tape measure. It is so handy and so damn cute too.

July is upon us

July is finally here, and we are now at the halfway point of the year.
After a month off to do some catch up and start and (hopefully) finish projects. We are going to have our sign on period for the next month of crocheting and exchanging. I hope that a lot more of us will be participating in the exchanges, and the Secret Pal exchanges.

Group update

I have updated the groups yahoo page with a new image. (^_^)

I was also thinking about starting a Christmas Exchange. What do you think? Would anyone be interested in a Christmas Exchange?

Hi Everyone,

Okay, I will admit it. I've been a bad girl in sending out my exchanges for April and May. I keep forgetting when I have the money to send them. Then I remember I owe them at times like now when the end of the money has come before the end of the month. Don't worry Kristin, Nancy & Reba, you're exchanges will get mailed right around 07/07, since I don't get paid until 07/03 and the post office is closed on the 4th. I usually can't get there before noon on Saturday either since I have to walk.

I'm also working on a baby blanket for Julie's baby, but of course it's going to arrive after he's born. I guess I have a problem getting things delivered on time, and think I always have. Oh well, such is life.

For those of you in the good ole' USA, hope you have a great Independence Day.

Hugs,

Christine

Tips for Crocheting with Cotton

Always make a swatch before beginning any project. This is especially true for cotton, as working with it is different than with most other yarns due to the lack of elasticity. Cotton stitches stand alone, unlike acrylic, microfiber and most other yarns where the stitches snuggle next to one another. The gaps created while forming stitches with cotton remain gaps and do not fill in.
Fancy stitches worked with cotton yarns tend to be more distinct and stable than those worked with other fibers because of the "stand alone" factor. Cables take on more depth, relief stitches stand out more, popcorns are more stable, and other fancy patterns are enhanced when crocheted in cotton.

Threading a Tapestry Needle

To easily thread yarn into a tapestry needle, wrap the yarn once around the needle, pull it tight and slip the end that was bent around the needle through the eye.
